Today’s public-7 patch introduces several fixes, improvements, and upgrades to the SimHaven client.
Before getting into the changes, however, I want to recognize an important milestone for the community.
Founder Status Has Officially Ended
As of today, Founder status will no longer be granted to newly registered accounts.
SimHaven has had an incredibly busy first month, and many dedicated players helped shape the community into what it is today. You helped test new features, kept properties open, reported bugs, participated in events, and supported the project while it was still finding its footing.
I could not have done it without you.
That is what the Founder badge on your profile represents. It is not simply a badge given to anyone who creates an account. It marks the people who were here during SimHaven’s earliest days and actively helped build its foundation.
Existing Founder accounts will keep their status and badge permanently. Wear it with pride, because here, it actually means something.
Now, let’s get into today’s update.
Restaurant Job Music Fix
The restaurant job will no longer play two in-game radio stations simultaneously.
I identified the cause of the issue and reported it to Rhys. Thanks to Rhys for providing the polished final correction, which has now been included in SimHaven.
The restaurant jukebox will now use the correct station and activate properly during job rounds.
The Attack Interaction Is Back
Anyone who played FreeSO may remember that the Attack interaction did not actually work.
Both Sims would move into position, but the interaction would immediately end before the fight began.
I found the cause of the problem, and I want to thank Kay Oss for helping me test and confirm the fix. A video of the restored interaction is included below.
So go ahead. Make some enemies and kick their pixelated butts.
Or get yours kicked. Results may vary.
Lot Radio Improvements
Lot Radio is a new SimHaven feature that many of you helped test over the last two days. Several bugs were identified during testing, and today’s patch resolves the major synchronization and persistence issues that were reported.
Previously, a property owner or roommate could configure a radio station and existing guests could listen normally. However, anyone who entered the property after the station had already been set would receive the message:
This Lot Does Not Have A Radio Set
Newly arriving Sims will now automatically receive the active station.
Saved radio stations will also load correctly after a property has been closed and reopened. Visitors can access the Lot Radio player, while station settings remain restricted to property owners and roommates.
I am especially excited about this feature because I always felt Electronic Arts should have provided something similar for the active radio stations that existed throughout The Sims Online.
Now, all you need is a compatible Shoutcast or Icecast listening URL. Enter it through the Lot Radio menu, and everyone on your property can listen with you.
This opens the door for player-operated radio stations, live broadcasts, parties, concerts, community events, and plenty of other creative ideas. I look forward to seeing what everyone does with it.
SimHaven Is Now 64-Bit
The SimHaven client now runs as a 64-bit application on supported Windows computers.
This allows the client to access significantly more memory and should reduce the Out of Memory crashes that could occur after visiting multiple properties during the same session.
The updated client should also operate more efficiently on modern systems, and Discord Rich Presence remains fully compatible with the 64-bit build.
