SimHaven is a community-run online life simulation server inspired by The Sims Online and made possible by the work of FreeSO. These rules apply to the SimHaven game server, website, Discord, support channels, forums, and any official SimHaven community spaces.
By using SimHaven, you agree to follow these rules and understand that staff may take action when needed to protect the community.
Community Standards
Treat other players with respect.
SimHaven staff are not here to moderate every disagreement, personality clash, play style difference, or private lot issue. However, staff may step in when behavior becomes abusive, targeted, discriminatory, unsafe, exploitative, or disruptive to the server or community.
Do not harass, threaten, stalk, bully, intimidate, or target other players.
Do not use hate speech, slurs, or abusive language based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, sex, age, or any other protected or personal characteristic.
Player-Run Lots
Player-run lots are managed by the lot owner and any roommates or players they choose to give permissions to.
SimHaven staff do not enforce individual lot rules, themes, preferences, or personal expectations. If a lot owner does not want someone on their lot, they should use the in-game tools available to them, including ignore, block, and banning players from the lot.
SimHaven staff may get involved only when behavior violates SimHaven's community rules. This includes harassment, hate speech, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexual harassment, threats, stalking, doxxing, ban/block bypassing, exploiting, scams, impersonation, or attempts to disrupt the server or community.
In short: lot owners manage their lots. SimHaven staff handle server-wide rule violations.
Blocks, Ignores, and Lot Bans
If someone ignores you, blocks you, bans you from their lot, or clearly tells you to stop contacting them, respect that boundary.
Do not try to bypass blocks, ignores, or lot bans by using alternate accounts, sending other players to contact someone for you, repeatedly messaging them, contacting them through Discord or support channels, or finding other ways to continue unwanted contact.
Bypassing someone's boundaries in order to continue contact, bully, stalk, intimidate, or harass them may result in moderation action.
Harassment and Targeted Behavior
Do not use SimHaven to harass, shame, threaten, or organize against another player.
This includes targeted insults, repeated unwanted contact, dogpiling, public callout campaigns, doxxing or threats of doxxing, stalking, encouraging others to bother someone, or using multiple platforms to continue a conflict.
If you have an issue with another player that crosses a community rule, report it through the proper support or moderation channels. Do not turn official community spaces into public drama threads.
Sexual Harassment and Adult Content
Do not sexually harass other players.
This includes unwanted sexual comments, repeated flirting after being asked to stop, sexual messages sent without consent, pressuring someone for personal or sexual information, or making sexual remarks toward someone who is uncomfortable with it.
Explicit sexual content, graphic sexual discussion, and shock content are not allowed in official SimHaven spaces such as Discord, support channels, forums, announcements, or the website.
Private adult conversations or roleplay between consenting adults in player-run spaces are not something staff will normally police. However, staff may step in if it involves harassment, lack of consent, minors, public explicit content, threats, coercion, or illegal material.
Any sexual content involving minors, directed at minors, or attempting to involve minors is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate removal.
Doxxing and Personal Information
Do not share, expose, hint at, or attempt to reveal another person's real-life information without their permission. This is commonly known as doxxing.
This includes real names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts, private messages, photos, workplace information, school information, family information, location details, or anything else that could identify, expose, or endanger someone.
Do not pressure other players for personal information.
Doxxing or threatening to doxx someone may result in immediate moderation action.
Account Safety
You are responsible for your own account.
Do not share your password. SimHaven staff will never ask for your password.
Do not sell, trade, give away, or share accounts.
Do not impersonate SimHaven staff, FreeSO developers, EA/Maxis staff, or other players.
Cheating, Exploits, and Server Abuse
Do not cheat, exploit bugs, duplicate items, abuse server issues, manipulate systems, or use tools that give you an unfair advantage.
Do not attempt to crash, disrupt, overload, attack, reverse engineer, or interfere with the SimHaven server, launcher, website, Discord, or related services.
If you find a bug or exploit, report it. Do not use it, share it publicly, or teach others how to abuse it.
Spam, Advertising, and Disruption
Do not abuse official SimHaven spaces with spam, flooding, repeated messages, bot activity, unrelated advertising, or disruptive posting.
Official SimHaven spaces include the website, Discord, forums, support channels, announcements, and other areas operated by SimHaven.
Normal conversation on player-run lots is not automatically considered spam. Lot owners may manage their own spaces using the tools available to them.
Staff may step in if repeated messages or behavior are being used to harass someone, bypass boundaries, advertise unrelated services, disrupt gameplay, or interfere with official SimHaven spaces.
Scams and Real-Money Sales
Do not scam players.
Do not sell SimHaven access, accounts, items, currency, lots, services, or in-game advantages for real money.
SimHaven is not here to sell access or charge people to play.
Names, Lots, Profiles, and Shared Content
Usernames, lot names, profile text, images, and shared content must follow the server rules.
Do not use names or content that are hateful, threatening, sexually explicit in public spaces, impersonating someone else, or created to harass or provoke other players.
Staff may ask you to change a name, lot name, profile, image, or other content if it violates these rules or causes a serious community issue.
Support and Reports
Use support channels for actual support.
When asking for help, include useful details such as what happened, what you were trying to do, any error messages, screenshots if possible, and what you already tried.
Do not abuse support channels, spam staff, make false reports, or demand instant replies.
False reports, edited screenshots meant to mislead staff, or attempts to use moderation as a weapon against another player may result in action.
Respecting Staff and Moderation
SimHaven staff are here to help keep the server stable, safe, and enjoyable.
You do not have to agree with every decision, but you do need to follow staff instructions. Harassing staff, refusing to follow moderation instructions, or turning moderation issues into public drama may result in further action.
If you believe a moderation action was unfair, use the proper appeal or contact method when available.
Game Preservation and Respect for the Original Work
SimHaven exists because people still care about The Sims Online, FreeSO, and the memories connected to that world.
Please respect the work that made this possible. Do not claim ownership of work you did not create. Do not remove credits from community-made content. Do not use SimHaven to attack FreeSO, its creators, contributors, EA, Maxis, or other fan projects.
SimHaven is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Electronic Arts, Maxis, The Sims franchise, FreeSO, or the FreeSO team. We are grateful for the work that came before us and want to honor it responsibly.
Rule Enforcement
Staff may take action depending on the situation. Actions may include reminders, warnings, content removal, temporary restrictions, kicks, bans, account suspension, or permanent removal from SimHaven spaces.
Some situations may require immediate action, especially if they involve threats, harassment, hate speech, sexual harassment, stalking, doxxing, scams, exploits, server attacks, or attempts to harm the community.
Trying to find loopholes in the rules will not help. If the intent is clearly harmful, abusive, disruptive, or dishonest, staff may still take action.
Final Note
SimHaven is here because this game and its community still matter to people.
Help us keep it active, welcoming, and worth logging into.
